Our arborists balance plant health, safety and artistry when pruning and shaping your plants from specimen shrubs or prized lace leaf maples to the largest shade and evergreen trees. We prune to emphasize a tree’s natural shape. If the tree has structural problems, we can cable it to increase its safety. In natural disaster situations we provide priority, emergency tree damage response to our clients. We also expertly prune fruit trees to shape and optimize fruit production. All of our work is performed in accordance with Industry Standard (ANSI A-300) tree pruning guidelines.

We are very experienced and work closely with Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (LMCD) and most cites surrounding the lake, while many have adopted regulations that if not followed can lead to hefty fines, Treecare can manage all of that for you.

Here are some guidelines:

A city permit is required to cut any live tree with a diameter of 6″ or greater that is located within 75′ of the shoreline. Inspection by city staff is required, to confirm the reasons for removal. Removal of dead trees doesn’t require a permit, but they must still be inspected prior to removal. Removal of live trees requires replacement on a tree-for-tree basis, at the same setback from the shore as the trees removed>Intensive vegetation clearing within 75′ of the shoreline, on steep slopes and in bluff areas is prohibited. Limited clearing is allowed to provide a view of the lake from the residence.

If a tree must be removed because it is dead or hazardous, our expert arborists can safely and efficiently take it down with the most advanced technical rigging equipment and experience in the industry. Our expert and careful tree removal is performed to insure safety to people, structures and the landscape. For stump removal, we have portable stump grinding equipment.

Trees are pruned for several reasons: to develop a strong structure, to repair storm or disease damage, or to change their size or density. Keep in mind that any pruning cut directs the way a tree grows and that cannot be undone. Also remember that pruning is actually an open wound, if not done properly, it is an invitation to insects and diseases. A callus consisting of cambium tissue will eventually cover the injured site, if the branch is accurately cut at the collar, but this is a slow process. Trees are best pruned by an arborist. Arborist understand the way trees grow and how they should be pruned. We also have proper tools and equipment to climb and prune trees safely.
